Big spotties on the chew!

I am sure most of you are aware about the bigger spotties being caught lately in Mission Bay, and if you werent aware of it, now you know :) Every one of these grumps was caught with the black widow swimgrub, and for the last week every single night session has rewarded several people with quality bass like the ones pictured here. Now is the time so get out there and get some!

Other heads:

I haven't decided exactly what to call these yet... they don't precisely look like a football so I might call them barrel heads or egg heads but I plan on selling these 3/8 oz heads as a companion to the 1/4 oz fish heads. The nice thing about this style head is it will prevent the plastic from laying on it's side when you drag it on the bottom and unlike a conventional football head you get big eyes.

These heads are also much simpler to powder paint since they don't have eye sockets to fill up with paint like on the 1/4 oz fish shaped heads. When I begin to sell them they will definitely be offered painted from the get go.

However, they aren't for sale yet. I just wanted to give you guys a sneak peek.

Also don't forget the meet and greet on the 15th!

Updated pie chart

Rather than make a chart with all 20 patterns, I combined all the patterns that caught less fish than the squid pattern and put them under "others".

Leadhead update:

Just a heads up:  I've switched eye styles to a silver cat's eye for now.  I think they look really cool.  Eventually I plan on offerering several different colors and styles of eyes so you can customize your leadhead but for now they are all going to have this eye.

Also pictured is one with a weedguard.  Kevin actually posted these for sale but I don't really want to sell them with a weedguard until I have them dialed in in regards to the fiber thickness, length and durability.

The weedless jigheads are really my ultimate goal, though.  I was having incredible success using the 1/4 oz strike king bitsy bug jigs with the skirts taken off.  They really let you get in the eelgrass.  However, I didn't care for the hooks, head shape or how easily the eyes fell off.  So that's when I really decided that I could make a better product.  I actually plan on making two different versions of the weedless jigheads: one will have a light weedguard for the bay and then I also want to make one with a stiffer weedguard for the heavy kelp.  And, of course, I also want to have different fiber colors available besides just clear.

Bigger

Don't forget we got a bigger 5" swim grub for sale now.  It's called the "Calikiller" since it designed with the Calico guys in mind..  We got some good reports of it being using for largemouth, too, though.

It's pictured next to a 3" swim grub and it also has a 3/4 oz Kalin's jighead with a 5/0 hook attached to it.  That's the only bigger jig head I had in my tackle box but I think it would be fine with any jig head that has a hook in the 4/0 to 7/0 range.  An appropriately sized Big Hammer Head or Warbaits head would probably be a better match.

The price is a 4 pack for $5 and you can get them in any color the 3" swim grub is currently offered in.

Slim Slugs

The initial standard color chart for the slim slugs is now online.  Just scroll below the swim grub colors and you'll see the slim slug colors.

For those of you unfamiliar with our slugs they are 5 inches long and alot narrower than the other guys.  Like the swim grubs these were designed with bay fishing in mind.  However, the freshwater guys should be able to have a blast with these, too.

The prices is $5 for a pack of 4 slim slugs.

Here's the colors:

Golden Sardine:

Mackeral:

Smoke:

(These are just the standard colors...if you want a custom color email tclures@hotmail.com for more info.)

New Color: Mackeral

This color is looking great!  It has a silver belly with small silver flakes and a green/ black pearl swirl top which emulates the Mackeral's back pattern.  You have to really see it to appreciate it, the pic barely does it any justice!  You can order this pattern on the original 3" swimgrub, the 5" calikiller swimgrub or the slim slugs.

Some news!

MEET-N-GREET

Our next meet and greet will be on Saturday morning, January 15th from 9am-11am at Harbor Island in the parking lot across from the Hilton Hotel. Come stop by and check out our swimgrubs, calikillers, and slim slugs! We will have some of our jigheads to show off as well. Those who show up and make prepaid orders will only have to pay $5/dozen swimgrubs, and $4 per 4-pack of slim slugs or calikillers.

SHIPPING RATES

Since we now have more than one type of bait for sale our shipping rates have changed. Rates are based on how much you spend rather than the quantity of baits you purchase. Instead of making a single shipping rate like most other companies do, this is the best method I could come up with.
$.70 - $15.00 = $2.50 for shipping
$15.01 - $30.00 = $5.00 for shipping
$30.01 - $50.00 = $7.00 for shipping
$50.01 and over = FREE SHIPPING

For now, I will still meet people locally here in San Diego either in Mission Bay or San Diego Bay to pick up their orders and not have to pay shipping fees. There have been a few times that people made orders and decided to never show up, which basically wastes my time making baits, and time driving around. As long as this doesnt keep happening I will keep honoring local cash/bait exchanges. If it keeps happening, all orders will be made through paypal, by mail, or at our meet and greets only.

PHOTO CONTEST

Winners of our monthly photo contest can choose either one dozen swimgrubs, half a dozen calikillers, or half a dozen slim slugs. All prizes will be one color pattern only.

December 2010 winner

Our winner for the photo contest belongs to Mike Pollard. He caught this nice halibut using the razor clam swimgrub! You can see the razor clam laying on the ground next to his fishing rod ;)

The razor clam has overtaken the ghost shrimp as the number 2 successful pattern in the swimgrub family, and has been the bait that won the last 2 photo contests.
